What Happened To The Pope in Turkey?

The recent arrival of Pope Benedict XVI to Turkey has not exactly been without controversy or comment. Most Papal visits in the past forty years have made the news somewhere. But this one was expected to make huge headlines because of the comments the Pontiff recently made regarding Islam, which he says were taken out of context.
But from what we have seen there was little, if any news, the protests were peaceful, and indeed the remarkable aspects of Pope Benedict's visit, such as visiting the Catholic Church in Ephesus and preaching to a crowd of less than 100 (when Popes by circumstance rarely preach to anything less than a 1,000 outside the Vatican) hardly got mentioned.
What does this say about the Media, or indeed about the Pope?
